Mark Twain National Forest

Location:
Ozark and Taney Counties

News, Updates, & Warnings:
The is a lot of ATV use on this road so be sure your horse is used to them.

Directions:
Southwestern Entrance:  From Springfield, take Hwy 125 south.  The entrance is on the left.  There is a sign there pointing the way.
There are 2 more entrances into the area, for those directions, please see our book.

Miles of Trails:
23 miles, plus many more miles on the various side roads.

Equestrian Camping:
Yes, many spots along the road plus there are three areas that make great camping spots.  They are shown on the map in our book.

Trail Notes:
All gravel road riding.  There are many scenic overlooks to enjoy.  Some hills are pretty long, but there should be  no downfall or creeks to negotiate, however there is traffic once in a while, including ATV’s and motorcycles.  It is a hot ride in the summer because so much of it is open and sunny.  Lack of water sources would make it hard on the horses during the heat of the summer.  There are road runners here that you might get to see if you are lucky.

Other Trail Users:
Mountain Bike Riders, ATV riders, motorcycle riders, and drivers.

Volunteers Helping With This Page:
No one at this time, available to adopt.  If interested, please contact us.
