Howell and Ozark Counties

News, Updates, & Warnings:

Collins Ridge Trailhead: From West Plains, take Hwy CC west 10 miles to Hwy AD, turn south.  Follow Hwy AD until you get to Hwy KK, turn west.  Drive to the trailhead campground on your left.  There are three other trailheads, but this is the biggest trailhead and the best one to negotiate horse trailers in.

Miles of Trails:
27 mile linear

Equestrian Camping:
Yes, at Collins Ridge Trailhead and primitive dispersed camping allowed.

Trail Notes:
This trail can be narrow, rocky, and rugged.  Sometimes it can be confusing, going from single track trail to double track roads.  Between miles 12 & 13 (from the north), the trail intersects with the Ridge Runner Trail.  The section between Hwy CC and Collins Ridge Trailhead goes through Devil’s Backbone Wilderness.  Some parts of the trail can get weedy and overgrown in the summer.

Other Trail Users:
Hikers, backpackers, hunters, and mountain bike riders (except within Devil’s Backbone Wilderness)

Volunteers Helping With This Page:
